What are PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments?
PRP is done by first drawing your blood. This blood is then placed into a centrifuge where it is spun to separate platelet-rich fluid from the rest of the blood. These platelets are then injected into the skin in order to stimulate growth and rejuvenation.
What are platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) treatments?
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is the second generation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and the injections are used to rejuvenate skin. PRF injections are made from your own blood and a protein matrix called fibrin. Once harvested, it becomes a gel made up of a high concentration of white blood cells, fibrin, and stem cells (growth factors).
WHAT KINDS OF TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE?
PRP is used both topically and injected.
Facial Injections: PRP injections are good for clients who want to have an injection treatment, but are worried about an allergic reaction. Because the solution is created from the client’s own blood, there is no fear of an allergic reaction to a rejuvenating solution. Once injected, the platelets stimulate growth of new skin cells and collagen which helps refresh the face.
Facial Treatment: Facial treatment is when the PRP solution is applied directly to the face, usually during and after a microneedling treatment, in order to combat wrinkles, pigment and other facial blemishes. This treatment is less invasive than direct injections.
You can also use the treatments for hair growth. This is popular with both men and women and has been shown to both aid in hair growth as well as improve the hair you currently have. The process for hair growth is slightly different than when it’s used on the face. WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR TREATMENT?
Both hair and skin PRP treatments are good for any healthy adults but are especially good for those who have allergies to common skin and hair treatments. Because the solution is organically made with the patient’s own blood, the chances for rejection or an allergic reaction are extremely small.
